A Berlin man has been sentenced to 7 years in prison with all but 14 months suspended after he was convicted of theft scheme over $100,000. Sentencing for 51 year old Richard Perry was postponed to give Perry time to gather the substantial amount of restitution owed to the victim. As part of his plea, Perry forfeited over $30,000 seized by the OCPD and gave a $10,000 cashier’s check to the victim. Then today at sentencing Perry provided an additional $30,000 in restitution. He will be on 5 years of supervised parole on his release and has been ordered to pay the remainder of the restitution through the Department of Parole and Probation. Perry was found guilty of stealing thousands of dollars from the Castle in the Sand over a three year period when he was employed at the hotel.
