UPDATED: Boating Accident on Wicomico River Leaves 2 Dead
UPDATED – 8:15am Natural Resources Police tell WGMD that there were a total of 6 people on board a 20-foot Bayliner that struck an unlit pier. No names have been released – officials are still in the process of notifying next of kin.

Maryland Natural Resources Police confirm that two people are dead after an accident Saturday night in Fruitland after a boat struck a pier on the Wicomico River off Safe Harbor Way. Emergency personnel was on the scene for over 4 hours – two other people were rescued from the water. Initial reports were for multiple people in the water and some missing and the boat sinking. Fire and dive personnel from Fruitland and Salisbury and Natural Resources Police responded to the scene around 9:15pm. The investigation is continuing.
