UPDATED: DSP Identify Pedalcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash near Lewes

UPDATED – 09/26/22 – 2:45pm – Delaware State Police have identified the victim who died after a hit and run crash on Fisher Road west of Lewes as 62 year old Thomas Belfield. Police believe the vehicle involved in the crash is a 2004 to 2008 white Ford F-150 utility pickup truck that should have damage to its right front headlight and passenger-side mirror. The truck pictured is similar to the one involved in the crash.

UPDATED – 09/25/22 6:20pm – A 62 year old Milton man is dead after he was struck on his pedalcycle just after 6:30 Saturday evening on Fisher Road west of Lewes. Delaware State Police continue to investigate, but say the cyclist was westbound on the edge of the roadway when a white truck with a utility body also traveling westbound struck the cyclist – propelling him into a grassy area off the road – the truck did not stop. The cyclist was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say the suspect vehicle may be a 2004-2008 Ford utility truck and should have damage to its right front headlight and passenger side mirror.

An adult male bicyclist was struck and critically injured Saturday night in a crash with a hit-and-run vehicle in the 30200 block of Fisher Road which is between Lewes and Harbeson off Hopkins Road.

The accident was reported around 6:40 p.m. Police are searching for a striking vehicle, possibly a truck, that left the scene. The bicyclist was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
