A Bridgeville man was arrested and charged with a DUI after police say he ran off the road and struck a tree while driving drunk near Salisbury.

Maryland State Police were called to the scene just before 9:30 p.m., Sunday for reports of a single vehicle crash.

Troopers arrived and learned that the driver, 29-year-old Shane DuPont, ran off the road and collided with two trees.

As police made contact with DuPont, troopers had reason to believe he was driving under the influence.

A field sobriety test was administered which DuPont failed, according to police.

DuPont was arrested and issued citations for the collision and DUI offense.
