Cannonball Missing from Lewes’ Historic Cannonball House

Lewes Police report that the cannonball in the side of the historic Cannonball House is missing. It’s not known if the cannonball is missing or was taken but the discovery that the cannonball was no longer attached to the outside wall was made on Friday.
The Cannonball House is the home of The Lewes Historical Society’s Maritime Museum. The picture from the Lewes Police Department shows where the cannonball had been welded to the house – where it was struck during the bombardment in the War of 1812.
