County Executive Julie Giordano Issues Burn Ban Order for Wicomico County

Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano has issued a countywide burn ban. The ban went into effect April 20th at 4:00 p.m. due to ongoing drought conditions. The decision follows recommendations from the county鈥檚 Burn Ban Committee, which includes public safety, health, forestry, and weather officials. The ban is initially in place for seven days, though an extension is expected if dry conditions persist. All outdoor burning is prohibited, with limited exceptions for gas and charcoal grills, certain recreational campfires on private property and public campgrounds, and permitted fireworks displays. Violations carry a $500 fine per incident. Officials urge residents to use caution, keep fire safety equipment nearby, and never leave any permitted fires unattended.
