UPDATED: Crash in Blades Saturday Night Leaves Seaford Man Dead


UPDATED – 09/08/25 – Delaware State Police have identified 58-year-old Purnell Collins of Seaford, Delaware, as the man who died in the fatal crash Saturday night in Blades.

ORIGINAL STORY – 09/07/25 – A crash around 11pm Saturday left a Seaford man dead. Delaware State Police spotted a Silverado with an expired temporary tag – and the vehicle flagged as not valid for operation on public roads. Police attempted a traffic stop, but the driver sped off at a high rate of speed on Market Street in Blades where he crossed into oncoming traffic an collided head on with an F-150 in the southbound left turn lane. The impact from the crash pushed the F-150 backward into a Camaro. The driver of the Silverado – a 58 year old man from Seaford was not properly restrained and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the F-150 was wearing a seatbelt and was treated for non-life threatening injuries at an area hospital. The driver of the Camaro was also properly restrained and declined medical treatment at the scene.
