UPDATED: Long Neck Man Shot during Domestic Incident in Potnets Creekside

UPDATED 11/20/21 11:15am – A Long Neck man has been arrested after he shot at Delaware State Police in the Potnets Creekside development.

Police were called just before 8:30 Friday night for a domestic in-progress on Crab Alley East. The woman told police her boyfriend had been drinking and was locked in a bedroom with their 9-month old. He was refusing to come out and putting on body armor and had a rifle.

The woman left the home as police arrived, but 31 year old Michael Bartie was uncooperative and threatened there would be a shootout. Just before 9, Bartie went outside and fired twice in the direction of police. A trooper returned fire and struck Bartie. He was arrested and taken to a nearby hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

Police found a rifle and 9mm handgun. Bartie is charged with weapons offenses and 4 counts of 1st degree reckless endangering and is being held in default of $600,000 cash bond. The trooper – a five year veteran from Troop 7 – has been placed on administrative duty and the child was unharmed and returned to her mother.
