Day 5 at the White Marlin Open Sees Some Leaderboard Changes

Day 5 – 71.5 pound White marlin caught by Kevin Howell of Queenstown, MD on the Reel Hunter out of St. Michaels moves into 2nd place

Day 5 at the White Marlin Open saw 237 boats fishing, but only 21 brought back something to weigh at the scales at Harbour Island Marina in Ocean City. Tuna were still the big catch of the day – 14 of them saw the scales ranging from 50 1/2 pounds to 84 pounds. There were three white marlin boated, but only one was a qualifier – and at 72 1/2 pounds moved into second place. Three mahi were boated, but only 1 was a qualifier at 40.5 pounds – sitting in second place. One wahoo came in and also claimed 2nd place in that division.

There will be a lot fewer boats heading out Saturday morning as most have used up their three fishing days. There are still plenty of fish out there – and it only takes one to shake up the leaderboard. The scales will open for the final time at 4 Saturday afternoon as anglers use their last day in search of the big white marlin.
