DE Attorney General Announces Consumer Protection Settlement With Door-to-Door Pest Control Company
July 29, 2026/
Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings has reached a court-filed settlement with door-to-door pest control company Aptive Environmental, LLC over alleged violations of the state’s consumer protection laws. The settlement seeks a court order requiring the company to pay $600,000 and change its sales practices after allegations that it used high-pressure sales tactics, misrepresented contracts, and failed to disclose cancellation fees. The Attorney General’s Office is also reminding consumers to review contracts carefully before signing, compare quotes from other companies, and be cautious of door-to-door salespeople who pressure them into agreements or charge fees to cancel a contract. State law also requires door-to-door solicitors to carry identification, follow restricted solicitation hours (between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM), and provide consumers with a copy of the contract and a three-day right to cancel.
