New leadership at Delaware’s Department of Corrections. Yesterday Corrections Commissioner Perry Phelps announced a new Warden for Sussex Correctional Institution and a new Deputy Chief of Bureau of Prisons. The new Warden at SCI, Robert May, is a 25-year veteran of the DOC and has worked in Level 4 and Level 5 prisons across the state, been a member of the DOC Central Intelligence Group for four years, and was most recently Deputy Chief of the Bureau of Prisons.

Shane Troxler will replace May as Deputy Chief of the BOP. Troxler started with the DOC in 2003 at Vaughn Correctional Center before becoming an award winning drill instructor and heading up the Sussex County Correctional Emergency Response Team for 6 years. Both promotions will become official on March 4th.
