DE July Labor Review Shows Decline in Unemployment
Unemployment in Delaware dropped slightly from June to July from 4.9% in June to 4.8% in July – the fourth straight month that the rate declined. However in Sussex County unemployment dropped from 4.7% in June to 4.3% in July even surpassing July of 2025 where the rate was 4.4%. The national unemployment average also fell from 4.2% in June to 4.1% in July.
Department of Labor officials say that the State’s improving unemployment rate has also resulted in a stronger national ranking – moving from 49th lowest in January to 42nd lowest rate in June.
The biggest over-the-year job changes showed increases in the Private Education and Heath and Professional and Business Services sectors – ad losses in the Wholesale & Retail Trade and Manufacturing Sectors.
