DE & MD Receiving BEACH Act Grant Funding for Water Quality Monitoring from EPA
The EPA has announced $944,000 in grant funding to monitor water quality at beaches for Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The monitoring also includes public notification of elevated levels of bacteria that makes swimming unsafe. The funding comes from the Beaches Environmental Assessment and coastal Health (BEACH) Act.
Delaware will receive $209,000 and Maryland will receive $258,000.  Pennsylvania will receive $214,000 and Virginia will receive $263,000. Â
The BEACH Act advances EPA’s goals of enhancing cooperative federalism and ensuring that every American has access to clean and safe water, two key pillars of EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin’s Powering the Great American Comeback Initiative.Â
