Delaware DMV Announces Summer Release of 5 Digit Plates

The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles has announced Tuesday, July 9th as the summer release date of available five-digit license plates.

Starting on that day, a limited number of five-digit license plates will be available to the public at the DMV locations in Georgetown, Dover, Wilmington and Delaware City. They are available on a first come, first serve basis and cannot be reserved in advance over the phone. The design options are the classic blue-and-gold aluminum plates, black-and-white porcelain plates or a stainless steel reproduction plate.

Officials say in order to take advantage of the available numbers you’ll have to give up your current license plate number. You must also pay applicable transfer fees, and have the title to your vehicle, your driver’s license, vehicle title, mileage and insurance information.
