UPDATED – 09/13/25 – Maryland First District Congressman Andy Harris applauds the Trump Administration for formal filing on Friday to vacate the Biden Administration’s approval of the US Wind Offshore project off the coast of Ocean City. Harris says the filing in the US District Court for the District of Maryland marks a major development in the ongoing fight over the wind farm which has seen opposition from Ocean City officials, fishermen, business leaders and resident who have warned for many years that this project would harm the economy and environment of the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Statement From Maryland 1st District Congressman Andy Harris:
“I applaud the Trump Administration’s decision to vacate the Biden Administration’s reckless approval of the US Wind Offshore project. This is a victory for the people of Ocean City and Maryland’s Eastern Shore, who were consistently ignored by federal bureaucrats pushing this offshore project without proper local input or approval. Offshore wind poses serious risks to our coastal economy, marine environment, national security, and the livelihoods of watermen. I thank President Trump for standing up for my constituents and will continue working with him and his administration to end this project once and for all.”

Original story – 08/27/25 – The Delaware State Senate Republican Caucus is supporting the Trump Administration’s move to withdraw federal approval for US Wind’s proposed offshore project off Ocean City, Maryland. Senate Republican Leader Gerald Hocker said Delaware’s beaches are vital to the state’s economy and warned that transmission cables through the Indian River could disrupt fragile inland bays. Democrats counter that offshore wind is a critical step in reducing emissions, diversifying energy sources, and creating jobs, and argue that opposition risks slowing progress on Delaware’s clean energy goals. Republicans maintain they support cleaner energy options but want to ensure the projects make sense economically.
