The Delaware Emergency Management Agency and State Police will conduct the quarterly test of emergency sirens surrounding the Salem and Hope Creek nuclear power plants next week. Officials say the 37 sirens located within a 10 mile radius of the power plants will go off sometime between 7 – 9 PM.

The sirens will be sounded for approximately 3- 5 minutes, followed by an emergency broadcast test on local radio stations. Officials say in a real emergency, the sirens would be used to alert the public to tune into the radio to find out emergency instructions.
