Delaware Unemployment Steady Since December

Delaware’s unemployment rate has remained steady since December at 4.8% – still higher than the national rate at 4%. However in Sussex County the rate has increased from 4% in December to 5.3% in January. And the numbers by county are all higher in January than in December of 2021. The unemployment rate of 4.8% is the lowest in Delaware since before the start of the pandemic in 2020. There are 8700 more jobs in the First State than a year ago – with the biggest gains in Leisure and Hospitality and Whole and Retail Trade. The biggest loss of jobs was in Education and Health.
