DelDOT Project to Install Center Median Barrier on Route 1 in the Milford, Magnolia Area

DelDOT has scheduled a project that will install a center median barrier on Delaware 1 from Trap Shooters Road to State Route 30. A pre-construction meeting was held early this month, and construction is expected to start in mid-February. The work is anticipated to be completed by April 2025. Crossover accidents on State Route 1, between Barkers Landing and Milford, have been an ongoing problem for many years, according to State Representative Carles Postles. Immediately following three fatal crossover accidents on this section of the highway in the summer of 2021, Rep. Postles contacted Delaware Secretary of Transportation Nicole Majeski to lobby for a barrier to be installed. He followed up with DelDOT to advocate for improved safety after another crossover incident in December that damaged the historic Barratt’s Chapel complex.
