Delmar, MD Man Charged after Head-on Collision West of Greenwood that Injured 3

A Delmar, Maryland man has been charged with vehicular assault after a head-on collision Friday night just after 11pm west of Greenwood. Delaware State Police responded to Route 404 near Adamsville Road and contacted the driver of a GMC pickup, 19 year old Jayden Waters of Delmar. Police smelled alcohol coming from Waters breath and preliminary investigation shows that Waters was westbound on Route 404 near Adamsville Road trying to pass two tractor-trailers. A Tahoe was eastbound on Route 404 and was struck by the pickup head-on.

The driver of the Tahoe, a 43 year old Georgetown man and 13 year old passenger were hospitalized with serious injuries. A 40 year old woman from Georgetown was treated and released and two other children in the Tahoe were not injured. Waters was treated for non-life threatening injuries and arrested after release. He is charged with the following offenses: 

  • Vehicular Assault First Degree – Driving Under the Influence Negligent Injury (Felony)
  • Vehicular Assault Second Degree – Driving Under the Influence Negligence Causes Injury
  • Driving By a Person Under 21 After Consumption of Alcohol
  • Unsafe Passing on the Left

Waters was released on a $4501 secured bond.
