Delmar teen charged in connection with home burglary, theft of firearms

A Delmar teen was arrested after police say he ransacked a local home and stole several handguns, ammunition, and electronics.

According to the Delaware State Police Department, just before 1 a.m. Saturday, August 3, troopers were called to the 37000 block of Marsha Street in Delmar for reports of a burglary.

When police arrived they met with the homeowner who said he went out earlier that evening and when he returned he discovered that his house had been ransacked and that some of his belongings were missing including three handguns, ammunition, and multiple electronics.

Through investigative measures, troopers identified the suspect as 18-year-oldĀ Jonathan L. PalmerĀ of Delmar, Delaware.Ā

Palmer was arrested early Sunday morning at his home in the 37000 block of Johns Way in Delmar. Following his arrest, troopers located the stolen property inside the home, police said.

Palmer was transported back to Troop 5 and charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, four counts of Theft of a Firearm, Theft, and Receiving Stolen Property. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
