Deputies Confirm Accidental, Electrical Fire in Snow Hill Residence

Deputies from the Worcester County Fire Marshal鈥檚 Office, after conducting a thorough investigation, determined that a fire that occurred at a residence on Ironshire Street in Snow Hill yesterday afternoon was accidental and electrical in nature. At approximately 12:53 p.m. yesterday, the Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene. First arriving units reported fire showing from the second floor. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control–successfully containing the blaze to a single second-floor bedroom, preventing further extension into other areas of the home. One man, who was an occupant, was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment of smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.聽Snow Hill was assisted by Girdletree, Stockton, Pocomoke and Newark Volunteer Fire Departments. The Worcester County Fire Marshal鈥檚 Office reminds residents to ensure electrical systems are properly maintained and to avoid overloading circuits. Working smoke alarms remain critical for early detection and safe evacuation.
