One person has died following a two-vehicle wreck on Route 50 in Wicomico County early Tuesday morning.

According to Maryland State Police, 37-year-old Jocelyn Osias of Salisbury was a passenger in a westbound vehicle that was hit by another vehicle near Forrest Grove Road. Police say Osias was trapped in the vehicle after it spun around and struck a tree and was pronounced dead.

Another passenger in that same vehicle was taken eventually to Shock Trauma in Baltimore due to severe injuries. The driver and a third passenger in the vehicle that was struck were released from TidalHealth after being treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 21-year-old Salisbury man, is likely to face charges at a later time, according to Maryland State Police. Investigators consulted with Wicomico County State’s Attorney Jamie Dykes, who responded to the scene.

The crash and investigation shut down westbound Route 50 in the area for about four hours. Members of the Pittsville and Parsonsburg Fire Companies took part in the extrication of the people who were involved in the collision.

State Police at the Salisbury Barrack responded to the scene on Route 50 in the area of Forest Grove Road at about 4:16 a.m. Tuesday.
