Dewey Beach Police Assist in Medical Emergency Thursday Night


Dewey Beach Police were called for a medical emergency involving a a CPR in progress Thursday night around 9 on Saulsbury Street. Police found an off-duty firefighter performing CPR on an unresponsive man on the front porch of a home. The Dewey Beach officer deployed an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) twice before detecting a pulse.

County Paramedics and Rehoboth Beach EMS personnel arrived and assumed patient care – taking the patient to Beebe Hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment.

The Dewey Beach Police Department extends its appreciation to the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Department, Sussex County EMS, and the Delaware State Police for their swift and coordinated response during this incident.
