Dewey Beach police had been called to North Beach around 12:40 a.m. Saturday for an EMS call when they found a disorderly group at the entrance to the popular nightclub.

Upon speaking to the individuals, who had just been ejected, they stated that a man had offensively touched a woman’s buttocks. An argument ensued and the woman was pushed to the ground by an unknown man, later identified by police as Tyler Shane McCauley, 26, of Townsend, Del.

According to police, the woman’s husband had attempted to defend his wife and was punched by McCauley causing facial injuries and a broken tooth. While police were interviewing the woman, McCauley exited the restaurant but was soon confronted by police.

McCauley, police said, became immediately combative and resisted the officers’ commands. Ultimately, a Taser was deployed and McCauley was finally taken into custody. No officers were injured in the incident. The victim declined prosecution on the other man who touched her buttocks, police said.
