UPDATED: Director of Humane Society of Wicomico County Placed on Administrative Leave

UPDATED – 2-18-19 – WGMD has since learned that 31-year-old Aaron Balsamo is facing a felony theft charge for reportedly using a Wicomico County Humane Society credit card for personal transactions. Maryland court records show Balsamo  made the unauthorized transactions between August of 2016 and July of 2018. A March 22nd court date has been set in Wicomico County District Court.

UPDATED – 8-26-18 – The Director of the Humane Society of Wicomico County, Aaron Balsamo, was placed on administrative leave last week.  Interim Director Kevin Usilton tells WGMD that “at this time they cannot comment about Aaron Balsamo and that his (Usilton’s) return is to ensure continued success of the humane society’s community resources.”  Usilton was the director of the Humane Society of Wicomico County 20 years ago and remains the executive director of the First State Animal Shelter and SPCA in Camden.

The Director of the Humane Society of Wicomico County has been placed on administrative leave.  Officials say that Kevin Usilton, who was the director of the society 20 years ago – is back on an interim, part time basis.  He remains the executive director of the First State Animal Shelter in Camden.  Channel 47/WMDT reports that information concerning Aaron Balsamo’s leave is limited.  He came to Wicomico County from Pittsburgh in March of 2016.
