Dover Man Arrested in Seaford on Drug, Firearm Charges

A 23-year-old Dover man is in jail after a loaded handgun and drugs were found in the vehicle he was driving in Seaford. Police say that shortly before 2 a.m., a police officer observed the vehicle run a stop sign at Virginia Ave and Bridgeville Highway. The driver, later identified as Sherwood Holley, attempted to evade police by turning into the Seaford Meadows Apartment Complex. When stopped, Holley tried to walk away from the vehicle multiple times and gave inconsistent information. A K9 scan alerted to possible drugs in the vehicle, leading to a search that uncovered a loaded 9mm handgun, 4.3 grams of cocaine, 30mg amphetamines, drug paraphernalia, and $660 in suspected drug proceeds. Holley, who is legally prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior offenses, was arrested and charged with multiple firearm and drug dealing offenses. He was held at Sussex Correctional Institution on $85,000 cash bail.
