Dover Man Charged with DUI Hit-and-Run

Delaware State Police have arrested and charged a Dover man after he led hit a vehicle and fled, leading Troopers on a chase, all while under the influence of alcohol.

Troopers say the incident happened shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning in the area of Steele Drive in Kent Acres in Dover. 25-year-old John L. Robinson of Dover arrived at a residence in a 2010 Subaru Impreza highly intoxicated and attempted to fight people at the residence. After being asked to leave, he revved his engine and crashed into a parked vehicle. He left the scene of the crash and then returned to find his dropped cell phone. A Trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop but Robinson ignored fleeing, and eventually crashing with a Honda Accord. No injuries took place. Troopers then attempted to use stop sticks but the suspect continue to flee. He was later spotted by Troopers walking toward his residence and was taken into custody without indent.

Robinson was charged with Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony), two counts of Leaving the Scene of Property Collision Accident, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession, two counts of Failure to Provide Information at Collision Scene Resulting in Property Damage, Failure to Yield Right of Way, Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device and Speeding in Excess of Posted Limits. He was committed to SCI due to his intoxication and arraigned later.
