Dover Man Convicted in Series of December, 2023 Shootings, Including Fatal Attack
A Kent County Superior Court jury has convicted a 22-year-old man for a series of shootings that happened in 2023. Jaquan Fletcher was convicted of multiple charges, including First-Degree Murder, three counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder, and four counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. In a separate ruling, the judge also found Fletcher guilty of illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition due to a prior conviction. According to the Delaware Department of Justice, the convictions stem from three separate shootings Fletcher committed across Dover in December 2023. On December 2nd, he wounded a 45-year-old man on Forrest Avenue; on December 8th, he shot a 25-year-old man near Village and Quail Hollow Drives; and on December 14th, he shot 42-year-old Frederick Tolson to death and injured a 59-year-old man on Ann Avenue. Investigators found no known connection between Fletcher and any of the victims. Fletcher is scheduled to be sentenced on August 12th. He faces a minimum of life plus 52 years, and a maximum of four life terms plus 116 years in prison.
