UPDATE: Suspect Arrested; Dover Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash

The Dover Police Department has arrested 24-year-old Aaliyah Graves of Chestertown, MD following the investigation into a fatal crash on North DuPont Highway early Sunday morning. Graves turned herself in to Dover Police Department on Labor Day, September 1st. She was processed and arraigned at Dover Police Department. She was committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $14,650 cash bail on several charges including:
-Leaving the Scene of a Collision Resulting in Death
-Theft of a Motor Vehicle
-Tampering With Physical Evidence
-Operation of a Vehicle causing the Death of Another Person
-Driving Without a Valid License
-Driving a Vehicle at an Unreasonable or Imprudent Speed

Graves is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Dover Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian on North Dupont Highway early Sunday morning (August 31). Police located the victim – 62 year old Barbara Benson, who died at the scene about a half hour after she was struck. Investigation showed that a black Toyota Avalon was southbound on North Dupont Highway and struck Benson – and continued traveling.
The driver has been identified as 24 year old Aaliyah Graves of Chestertown, MD – her vehicle has been located in Worton, MD, but Graves has not been located. Warrants are on file for her arrest.
