DSP Arrest 4 After Stolen Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Crash; Stolen Firearm Recovered


Delaware State Police were on patrol near School House Road in New Castle when the spotted a Kia Sportage traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. Police attempted a traffic stop, but the driver sped away. Police gave chase, but discontinued the pursuit for safety concerns south of the Roth Bridge. Police later spotted the vehicle on Route 1 near Middletown Odessa Road where it collided with a tractor-trailer and overturned in the center median. Police responded and arrested the 4 occupants – 24 year old Xavier Lamour of Dover and 3 juveniles. No injuries were reported.

A search of the vehicle turned up a loaded handgun reported stolen from Alabama and a computer check showed the Kia was reported stolen by Dover Police.

Lamour was taken to Troop 9, where he was charged with the offenses listed below:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Receiving a Stolen Firearm (Felony)
  • Receiving Stolen Property (Felony)
  • Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony)
  • Related Traffic Offenses

Lamour was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $50,504 secured bond.


The three juveniles – aged 15 and 16 from Dover and Harrington – were also taken to Troop 9 where they were each charged with the offenses listed below: 

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Receiving a Stolen Firearm (Felony)
  • Receiving Stolen Property (Felony)
  • Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony)
  • Related Traffic Offenses

Each was arraigned by the New Castle County Family Court, and committed to the Department of Services for Children, Youth & Their Families on $55,000 secured bonds.
