DSP Arrest Delmar Man after Home Invasion Burglary & Assault

A Delmar man has been arrested following a home invasion burglary and assault that occurred early Monday morning in Delmar. Delaware State Police were called to a home on Bi-State Boulevard just after 2am for a report of an assault involving a weapon and that a man had forced entry into the house and was there when the 40 year old male victim arrived home. The victim confronted the suspect, later identified as 35 year old Mario Padilla Caballero of Delmar, fought with the victim and cut him with a knife. Padilla Caballero is known to the victim and ran from the house when police arrived, but was arrested a short time later. Padilla Caballero was arrested and taken to Troop 5 and is charged with multiple offenses:

  • Home-Invasion Burglary 1st Degree – Cause Physical Injury (Felony)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Assault 2nd Degree (Felony)
  • Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
  • Terroristic Threatening
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Resisting Arrest

Padilla Caballero was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3.Ā  He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $56,201 cash bond.
