DSP Arrest Dover Man for 6th DUI Offense & Felony Weapons Charges

Delaware State Police conducted a traffic top on a Dodge Dakota in Leipsic Sunday afternoon after learning the license plate was assigned to a different vehicle. After contacting the driver, 55 year old Francis Robinson of Dover, the trooper observed signs of impairment and saw open beer cans inside the vehicle. Robinson refused standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested.
During a search of the vehicle police recovered a loaded shotgun and a computer check showed Robinson has five prior DUI-related convictions and is prohibited by a court order from driving. Robinson was also found with over 7 grams of suspected marijuana.
Robinson was taken to Troop 9 where troopers obtained a search warrant for his blood. He was charged with the below listed offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm if Previously Convicted of a Violent Felony (Felony)
- 6th Offense Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (Felony)
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited Who Also Possesses a Controlled Substance (Felony)
- Noncompliance with Conditions of Recognizance Bond or Conditions (Felony)
- Possession of a Firearm while Under the Influence
- Related Traffic Offenses
Robinson was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $83,700 cash bond.
