DSP Arrest Millsboro Man after Stabbing and Pursuit at Long Neck

A Millsboro man has been arrested on felony assault and DUI charges after a stabbing and pursuit Saturday night in Long Neck. Delaware State Police were called to the Crab Barn around 9pm Saturday and learned that a 44 year old man had been stabbed by a man identified as 67 year old Douglas Clay of Millsboro after a disagreement over a seat at the bar.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital – Clay left on a motorcycle – troopers attempted a traffic stop on Indian Mission Road, but Clay sped off leading police along rural roads before finally stopping in Milton where he was arrested.

Clay was taken to a hospital for a medical issue and troopers observed signs of impairment.  After being released from the hospital, Clay was taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crimes listed below:

  • Assault 1st Degree – Intentional Serious Injury (Felony)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • 4th Offense DUI (Felony)
  • Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Multiple Pursuit Related Traffic Offenses

Clay was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and committed to the Department of Correction on a $129, 018 cash bond.
