DSP Charge Dover Teen with DUI & other Offenses after Pursuit in Stolen Car
A 17 year old from Dover has been arrested on DUI and other charges following a pursuit in a stolen car early Thursday morning. Delaware State Police say a trooper on patrol just before 1am saw a Lexus on President Drive – and a computer check showed that it was stolen from Maryland. The trooper attempted a traffic stop but the driver did not stop – but sped off at a high rate of speed on several area streets and roads in Dover – finally coming to a stop on Roosevelt Avenue. The driver, identified as a 17 year old male – and a passenger ran off on foot. The driver was located after a search of the area and arrested. The suspect was taken to Troop 3, where after Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and charged with the following offenses:
- Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal (Felony)
- Receiving Stolen Property over $1,500 (Felony)
- Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
- Resisting Arrest
- Driving Under the Influence of Drugs
- Driving without a Valid License
- Reckless Driving
The 17 year old was released on his own recognizance to a parent or guardian.
