UPDATED: Suspect in Custody; State Police Investigating Homicide in Seaford

UPDATED – 05/28/26 –

The Delaware State Police continue to investigate the homicide that occurred in Seaford last week. On May 27th, 19-year-old Darrin West of Seaford was taken into custody in Maryland with assistance from the Salisbury Police Department and the Maryland State Police. West is currently being held in Maryland pending extradition. Upon his return to Delaware, West will be charged with several crimes including:

  • Murder 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Attempt to Commit Robbery 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Conspiracy 1st Degree (Felony)

UPDATED – 05/24/26 – Delaware State Police have obtained an arrest warrant for 19 year old Darrin West of Seaford in connection with a fatal shooting on German Road near Seaford Thursday night. Police have arrested 19 year old Omar Vidro-Pacheco of Seaford.

Police were called for a crash just after 8:30 Thursday night and found the 17 year old driver, Jacob Rinier of Laurel with a gun shot wound. Rinier died at an area hospital. A juvenile male passenger was also taken to a hospital, evaluated and released.

Police learned that Rinier was meeting the two Seaford men at the Concord Pond boat ramp for a drug transaction when West pulled a handgun and shot Rinier and he tried to drive off – he lost consciousness on German Road where he crashed.

Police found Vidro-Pacheco at the Concord Pond boat ramp parking lot where he was arrested. He is charged with the following:

  • Murder First Degree (Felony)
  • Attempt to Commit Robbery First Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Conspiracy First Degree (Felony)

He is being held on over $1-million cash bond. West has not been located and will face the same charges.

ORIGINAL STORY – 05/22/26 – A call for a vehicle crash Thursday night is now a homicide investigation. Delaware State Police were called just before 9 to German Road east of Seaford where they found the driver of the vehicle – a 17 year old Laurel man – with an apparent gunshot wound and began lifesaving efforts. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

DSP Homicide Unit has learned the victim was shot near the Concord Pond boat ramp by an unknown suspect.
