UPDATED: DSP Identify Vehicle of Interest in Deadly Hit and Run Crash Near Seaford

The Delaware State Police has identified and located the vehicle of interest as a Chevrolet Equinox that was involved in the fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred last month in Seaford. The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this crash and is working to identify the driver.
UPDATED – 07-31-26 – Delaware State Police are looking for help to identify a vehicle of interest regarding the fatal hit & run crash a week ago west of Seaford. Police believe the SUV is red or maroon and may have damage to the right front headlight area. A bicyclist, 73 year old Michael Barrett of Seaford, was struck just after 2pm on Friday, July 24th as he rode along Woodpecker Road – just west of Butler Branch Road. UPDATED – 07/26/26 – The Delaware State Police have identified 73-year-old Michael Barrett of Seaford, as the man who died in the fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred Friday afternoon west of Seaford.

ORIGINAL STORY – 07/25/26 – Delaware State Police are investigating a hit and run crash that left a 73 year old Seaford bicyclist dead on Woodpecker Road west of Seaford. Police say the bicyclist was eastbound along the edge of Woodpecker Road west of Butler Branch Road just after 2pm when an eastbound vehicle for unknown reasons struck the rider and left the scene. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police believe the suspect vehicle may have damage to the passenger side – possibly near the turn signal housing.
