UPDATED: DSP Make Arrest in Home Invasion in Georgetown

UPDATED – 05/29/26 – A Millsboro man has been arrested in connection with a home invasion that occurred around 10:30am on May 15th on Lawson Road east of Georgetown. Police have arrested 44 year old Robert Berry of Millsboro after investigation into the incident. Berry was arrested Thursday and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below:   

  • Attempt to Commit Robbery 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Home Invasion Burglary 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Possess, Purchase, Own, or Control a Firearm/Destructive Weapon if Previously Convicted of Two Violent Felonies on Separate Occasions (Felony)
  • Aggravated Menacing (Felony)

Berry was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $166,000 cash bond.

ORIGINAL STORY – 05/16/26 – A home invasion Friday night around 10:30 on Lawson Road in Georgetown is under investigation by Delaware State Police. Police say in 83 year old woman activated her panic alarm after an unknown male suspect forced his way into her home as she opened her front door. The suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded to see another unknown person he believed was inside.

The victim locked herself in a bedroom and activated her panic alarm – the suspect searched the residence – and left.

The suspect is white and wore a gray hoodie and may be driving a black pickup truck.
