UPDATED: Dover Police Make Arrest in Shooting on Barrister Place in Dover; Investigation Continues

UPDATED – 07/07/25 – A Dover man has been arrested for his part in a shooting incident on Barrister Place in Dover on June 14th. Dover Police learned that at least three groups of individuals were shooting at each other during this incident which left 22 year old Daniel Guzman, Jr. dead. Police have identified 20 year old Makhai Miller of Dover as one who shot a handgun during this incident. Miller was arrested on July 2nd and is charged with possession of a firearm and 1st degree reckless endangering. 

Miller is being held at SCI in default of a $66,000 cash bail. Police continue to investigate and are working closely with the DOJ.

UPDATED – 06/25/25 – The Dover Police Department is continuing to investigate the homicide of 22-year-old Daniel Guzman Jr., who was found shot to death on Barrister Place on June 14th. Four additional victims were shot during this incident. Detectives are urging anyone with information that may assist in this investigation to come forward, adding that even the smallest detail could be critical in helping them bring justice to Daniel and closure to his loved ones and all victims involved. ORIGINAL STORY – 06/14/25 – Dover Police are investigating a shooting that left a 22 year old Dover man dead and injured several others early Saturday morning. Police were called to Barrister Place just after 12:30 and located the victim who had gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was taken to Bayhealth Kent Campus where he later died from his injuries.

Four other victims were also injured during this incident – all are males from Dover aged 21 to 58.

Police learned that a group of people was standing in front of a residence on Barrister Place when multiple suspects began shooting at the group.
