Evening Fire at Rehoboth-Area Condominium Building Prompts Evacuations


The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a fire that occurred at a two-story condominium building in the Creekwood community off Coastal Highway. The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene on Wednesday evening, February 18th, around 8:10pm. Units found fire lapping up the exterior wall of building. Four units were evacuated and the fire was quickly extinguished including minor extension into one of the condo units. Lewes Fire Department assisted at the scene and Indian River Fire Company provided coverage for the Rehoboth and Lewes districts. Delmarva Power responded quickly to disconnect power to a bank of meters that appeared to be the center of the fire. No one was injured. The Delaware State Fire Marshals office is investigating.
