Family of Four in Denton Displaced Following House Fire


A family of four has been displaced as a result of a fire that occurred yesterday in Caroline County, and they are now being assisted by the American Red Cross. The fire occurred on聽Harmony Road in Denton at a one-story, wood framed, single-family home.聽The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire.聽 A passerby discovered the fire and contacted the Caroline County Emergency Communications Center. The majority of the fire was contained to an inside of the bathroom.聽 However, significant smoke and water damage was present throughout the inside of the house. According to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal, the fire was accidental – caused by failure of the energized electrical branch wiring.聽A pet rabbit died聽 as a result of the fire. The total loss is estimated at聽$150,000.
