Family Pet Perishes in Somerset County Residential Fire

A structure fire in Somerset County heavily damaged a single story home on Fontaine Road in Westover Saturday afternoon. Firefighters from the Fairmount Volunteer Fire Company were called around 3pm. State Fire Marshal investigators say there was a smoke alarm in the home which did activate and there were no injuries, however a pet dog died in the fire. The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation.
