Felton Man Arrested in Frederica Following Pursuit

Delaware State Police say they have arrested a Felton man following a vehicle pursuit that led to the discovery of drugs.

Troopers say the incident took place on Wednesday, June 5 around 12:40 a.m. when they observed a black Nissan Sentra driver using their cell phone while driving on Clapham Road in Frederica. A traffic stop was initiated but the driver refused to stop, leading police on a pursuit in which he committed several traffic violations.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop on Northbound Route 1. Troopers made contact with the driver and took him into custody without further incident. He has been identified as 28-year-old Taquion A. Turner. During a search of the suspect’s vehicle, numerous drugs were found including 19.79 grams of Marijuana, 2.28 grams of THC exiles and Drug Paraphernalia. Troopers also found 8.01 grams of crack-cocaine that had been thrown out of the window during the pursuit.

Turner has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Disregard of a Police Officer’s Signal, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, Reckless Driving, Aggressive Driving and Other Traffic Violations. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
