Groundbreaking for the new maintenance facility at the Lewes Transit Center.

Ground has been broken for the maintenance facility at the Lewes Transit Center near the Five Points intersection.  This is the final phase of this project which will now allow for year-round bus service to residents on the eastern side of Sussex County.  The maintenance facility will have three bays – designed for alternative fueled vehicles.  It will house both fixed route and paratransit buses – and eventually electric buses for the regular bus service – which is slated to be completed next summer.

Daily Beach Bus service is now underway.  The new Intercounty Route 307 provides weekday express service between Lewes, Milford and Dover – with connections at the Dover Transit Center to Christiana Mall and the Wilmington Train Station.  The Route 305 Beach Connection give seasonal weekend service from Wilmington, Christiana Mall, Middletown, Dover, Lewes and Rehoboth through Labor Day.  When the Beach Bus ends service on September 9th – all the Sussex County bus routes will be expanded to include Saturday service and Routes 201 and 204 will continue year round – operating every 30 minutes from 7am to 11pm – Monday through Saturday.
