Ocean City Firefighters were called to Hooper’s Crab House on Route 50 for an appliance fire just after 7:30 Thursday night. Crews arriving at the scene found fire behind a cooking appliance and worked for about 3 hours to contain the fire that extended into the walls. The restaurant was at full capacity when the fire broke out – and restaurant staff led an orderly evacuation with no injuries reported. The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s office believes the fire is accidental – and began in an area near the appliance involved. Hooper’s is expected to remain closed for several days while repairs are made.
