Fire Caused by Electrical Malfunction Displaces Two Residents, Kills Four Pets

Two residents of a home on Webster Street in Federalsburg, Dorchester County, are being assisted by the American Red Cross after a fire occurred yesterday afternoon, November 19th. Three dogs and one cat died in the fire. The blaze started in the kitchen and was caused by an electrical malfunction. The total loss is estimated at $300,000, according to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal. One of the occupants was home at the time of the fire and was awoken by the smoke alarms. The occupant was able to escape through a bedroom window.
