Fire In Burn Pit Spreads To Home, Structures, Boats And Brush

A fire in a burn pit Monday afternoon spread to brush, travel trailers, boats and other structures including a single-story home.
The fire was reported Monday afternoon on Cordrey Road in the Oak Orchard area. According to the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, numerous other fire departments assisted at the scene or covered.
One firefighter was evaluated at a local medical facility.
Sussex County paramedics and Mid-Sussex Rescue also responded. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
