Fire in Parsonsburg Caused by Juvenile Playing with Matches

A fire that was accidentally caused by a juvenile playing with matches in a bedroom occurred early this morning on Jones Hastings Road in Parsonsburg. The area in which the fire started was the bed—box spring mattress. An adult in the home, who discovered the fire soon after, put out the blaze before firefighters arrived. After investigating, the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office installed a smoke alarm since the home didn’t have any. No injuries were reported.
