“Game Stop” Phone Scam Reported in Somerset County

The Somerset County Sheriff’s office is warning of a phone scam that has been reported locally.  Someone calls stating they are from the Federal Government and tell you that you’re being investigated for a certain crime. You’re told to go to the nearest Food Lion Store, purchase reloadable Game Stop cards, load them with your money, and then you are to give them the card number and pin to come into good standings with the Federal Government.  This is bogus.  The Federal Government will NEVER ask you to use “Gift cards” to fix any money problem. If you receive a similar phone call – hang up.
