Georgetown Man Arrested for Burglary & Theft

A Georgetown man has been arrested on charges of burglary and theft. Delaware State Police were called to a home on Wilson Road on September 9th for a report of a burglary. They learned that an unknown suspect entered the residence while the 67 year old resident slept and took his wallet. Police learned that the victim’s credit card was used at an area convenience store that same day and were able to identify 55 year old Louis Bland of Georgetown as the suspect. A warrant was obtained – and on Thursday, September 18, Bland was arrested by Millsboro Police for an unrelated incident. Bland is charged by State Police with the following offenses:
- Burglary 1st Degree – Occupied Dwelling (Felony)
- Theft Under $1,500 Where the Victim is 62 Years or Older (Felony) – 2 counts
- Unlawful Use of Payment Card Under $1,500 Unauthorized Use of Card Where the Victim is 62 Years or Older (Felony)
Bland was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $26,000 cash bond.
