Governor John Carney to Sign Several Bills This Afternoon

Governor John Carney will sign several bills this afternoon at Legislative Hall in Dover. Included in this signing ceremony is Senate Bill 51 which will prohibit food establishments from handing out single serving plastic implements – including plastic straws & polystyrene foam containers.

Senate Bill 155 is a special license plate for Plastic Free Delaware, Inc. – a non-profit whose mission is to reduce single-use plastic pollution and build a culture of zero waste in Delaware.

And Senate Substitute 1 for Senate Bill 87 clarifies exemption from the Realty Transfer Tax for conveyance to or from an organization exempt from tax under 501(c)(3) under Federal Internal Revenue Code – deals with low and moderate income households. These measures will become effective when signed around 1:30 this afternoon.
